Portrait Moments. Lifetime Memories.
I took my first picture at the age of eleven. I needed pictures to complete a 4-H project, so I used my parents’ camera, a Kodak Instamatic, to take photos of my pets and of the infant son of a family friend. Because of the expense of my new found hobby, I had to, reluctantly, put the camera aside after my project was completed.
As an adult, I worked a variety of part-time jobs while homeschooling my children. When I’d finished their schooling and everyone was off to college, I returned to my love of animals and spent a year as a dog trainer for a major pet supply store. Our “family” at the time included two beautiful dogs of our own, and these became my students.
A few years later my husband and I decided to take a photography class together. I was able to return to photography. Our four-footed family members made for great pictures and the grandchildren brought a new level of love for photography. It is ironic to me that I returned to taking images of pets and children after all those years! I absolutely love it!
I work in a studio setting using bright white and black backgrounds to bring out the features and personality of each client. My goal is to showcase God’s creation and highlight the love, fun, and relationships that a child or pet brings to our lives.
I see these images as portrait moments, literally caught in a flash but lasting a lifetime.
